It is important for all not-for-profit organisations to operate lawfully and be managed responsibly.

Good governance is built on a culture of accountability and transparency, and maintains public trust so not-for-profits, like Denmark Futures Ltd., can help their communities thrive.

As a priority project, Denmark Futures negotiated with the Australian Institute of Company Directors to deliver the highly acclaimed Governance Foundations for Not-For-Profit Directors  program. 20 scholarships for a total value of $34,980, were offered.

The program provided participants from our community with world-class governance education about compliance and the roles and responsibilities required of not-for-profit directors, particularly in the areas of governance, risk, strategy and financial management.

Many Denmark not for profit organisations participated in the program, with surveys afterwards confirming that the participants learned new information and improved their governance capability.

What's next?

Denmark Futures will continue this work in 2024, establishing a “Chairs Roundtable” to provide local NFP Chairs with an opportunity to network and workshop any governance challenges they may face.

This will provide an important support to all organisations. New Chairs will benefit from the peer-to-peer conversations as they come into their roles, and experienced Chairs will be able to share their experiences whilst continuing to strive for best practice governance practices

Our focus on NFP Board education, networking and capacity building will continue.
